(一) Both表示'俩；两者；双方'，有强调意义，要重读。
Eg. Both sides of the paper were covered with writing. 这张纸两面都写满了字。
(二) two，twice表示数量、次数 '两；再次'。
Eg. There is an interval of ten minutes between two classes．两节课间隔十分钟。
(三) couple, a couple of表示'一对；一双；三两个'。
Eg. The young couple get along quite happily．小两口过得挺和美。
(四) double表示'双倍的；双重的；两用的'。
Eg. We can't pay double of this amount．我们不能付双倍的数目。
(五) few，a few 表示'几个；两三个；不多'。
Eg. I'd like to say a few words about it．对这事我想说两句。
(六) either表示'两者之中任何一个'，用于否定句、疑问句和肯定句。
Eg. I believe either method will work．我看两种方法中的那一种都行。
(七) neither表示'两者都不'。
Eg. In neither case can I agree. 两种情形我都不能同意。
(八) bi-=twice，two; 表示'二；两；双；重'。
